The Buddhist temples in Thailand were a shock after the ones in Japan. In Japan I thought the Buddhist temples were sometimes over the top compared to the Shinto Shrines, but they weren’t covered in gold, rare jewels, and mirrors like the ones in Bangkok.
When I first saw them, they looked like alien worlds. Radio towers and skyscrapers on a far away planet.
