While in Cody, WY, we went to a Cowboy Music Revue. The main guy had his 11 year old daughter come up a couple of times to play the fiddle. Each time he lauded her with praise about how amazing she was and how beautiful she was. It seems that at all old-timey folk concerts little kids perform, and the adults always eat it up.
From what I could tell, Asia did not seem to have this same attitude towards youth. The elders, those who were experienced and practiced, garnered all the praise. Children were treated differently in each place, but I never felt like they were celebrated to the same degree that they are here.
