Dunk Comedy

A Buddhist monk student at Rumtek in Sikkim throwing rocks at the crazy old man hanging around the monastery, eating chicken wings (he reminded me of NYC).
I sat in the back for the afternoon prayers in the main temple. The bell rang beforehand, and kids started heading towards the temple. Eventually, the prayers started, but there were kids still running to make it, some still trying to get their robes in order. Inside, the youngest sat in the back, secretly hitting each other and falling asleep. One was so tired he continualy slumped forward, looking headless, even after the monk watching over them when wake him. At points in the prayers, between chanting, throat singing, and bell ringing, they blow into brass instruments, pound drums, and ring the bells making a loud clamor. Each time, the headless kid didn’t even twitch.
It all reminded me of camp.
